The Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed (CDRW) announced today that Meagan Birkenmaier has been named the Coalition's next Director. Meagan has served as CDRW’s Communications Manager since 2021 and will lead the organization’s efforts to unite partners across the five-state Delaware River Basin and advance shared priorities to protect and restore the watershed.
DEIJ Day of Learning: Actionable Strategies for Change
On Wednesday, June 5th ― the Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed (CDRW) hosted its inaugural Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) Day of Learning at the Social Profit Center in Hamilton, New Jersey.
The event was constructed by CDRW’s DEIJ Workgroup to highlight regional expertise and equip participants with tools to enhance advocacy, outreach, programming and more.
Our robust agenda featured community-based organizations, state environmental agencies, and civic engagement groups who spoke about addressing systemic and racial injustices, forming authentic and representative partnerships, making nature accessible for individuals with disabilities, among other critical DEIJ topics.

The heart of the Delaware River Watershed beats strong, and this year, it pulsed with vibrant energy as conservation enthusiasts, experts, and advocates from all walks of life gathered in Wilmington, Delaware, for the 11th Annual Delaware River Watershed Forum. Hosted by the Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed in partnership with the National Wildlife Federation, this two-day event, held on September 28-29, 2023, was nothing short of extraordinary.

Hello CDRW community!
My name is Meagan Schaefer (she/her/hers), and as of June 21, 2021, I have joined the Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed (CDRW) team as their new Outreach & Communications Manager. I am so thrilled to be here, and you can learn a bit more about me below.
Born and raised in Audubon, New Jersey, I grew up enjoying all that the Delaware River Basin has to offer – from white water rafting on the Lehigh River to hiking the Delaware River Water Gap. I have always been drawn to nature, particularly preserving and protecting it for future generations.
