Meagan Birkenmaier (she/her), Director
Meagan Birkenmaier serves as Director of the Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed (CDRW), leading efforts to unite partners across the five-state Delaware River Basin and advance collaborative solutions to protect and restore the watershed.
Meagan joined CDRW in 2021 as Outreach and Communications Manager. In that role, she strengthened coalition communications, elevated partner voices, and supported efforts to build capacity among more than 200 member organizations. Before joining CDRW, Meagan worked with the Urban Affairs Coalition, supporting community and economic development initiatives focused on expanding access to capital and strengthening connections between communities and financial institutions across the Philadelphia region.
Meagan earned a bachelor’s degree in Geography from Rowan University and a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Temple University, with a focus on Sustainable Community Development and Environmental Planning.
Maria Castro (she/her), Member & Events Coordinator
Maria joined the Coalition in February 2023 as Member & Events Coordinator. Maria comes to the organization from ACV Enviro where she coordinated transportation and waste management projects. Maria holds a BS in Mathematics with a concentration in Chemistry from Montclair State University. During her undergraduate, Maria interned as a research associate in various environmental research projects.
