Take a journey with author Amy Hollander on April 9th at 7:30 PM to explore her recent graphic novel, Low Bridge, Everybody Down, which shares the real-life experiences of Jimmy Brown, a black canal boat captain on the Delaware and Lehigh Canal in the early 1900s. Learn how Hollander crafted the story by combining Jimmy's oral histories within the framework of local, regional, and national events, and how she interwove her narrative with the vibrant art of Will Rosado to create a dynamic interplay of word and image — one that will engage the next generation of young readers with the diverse history of the Delaware and Lehigh Canal system.
Speaker Bio:
Amy Hollander is a lifelong storyteller with 20 years of experience as an educator and a museum professional in the tri-state area. For years, Hollander has specialized in developing living history programming for local school districts. These programs introduced students to the lives and struggles of everyday people in history.
In 2017, Hollander established Cloud Mill LLC to help museums navigate 21st-century challenges. Hollander encourages community-forward planning in her projects and has a successful record of developing and delivering powerful exhibits and engaging programs that bring underserved narratives to the forefront. Currently, Amy is the Historic Resources Manager for the Parks and Recreation Department for the County of Bucks. In this capacity, she authors a blog, Bucks Bygone Byways, that highlights the lives of everyday people, places, and objects from the past.
Working on Jimmy Brown's life story has been an honor for the author. From the first listen of Jimmy's recorded memories. Hollander was captivated by both Jimmy's positive attitude, despite the trials he endured, and his determination to make a better life for himself against all odds.

Holland Highlands is a unique preserve with a diversity of features- old forest, meadow, scenic views, and a pond. There are two goals at this preserve before spring: to work on the recently re-routed red trail, and to prevent algae growth in the pond. Trail maintenance will include all sizes of jobs, from log removal to shrub trimming to plant pulling. We’ll be using barley hay in the pond to reduce the amount of algae growth this season.

CBLP is pleased to partner with The Watershed Institute to bring an adapted version of the Level 1 training to landscape professionals in New Jersey who design, install and maintain stormwater best management practices (BMPs) and conservation landscapes. As stormwater regulations evolve, landscape professionals are being asked to play a greater role in ensuring BMPs are built and managed for long-term success. This specialized class is based on a core set of standards in sustainable landscaping practice. It integrates appropriate regional resources for those who live and practice in New Jersey and surrounding areas, with materials from the CBLP training program.

Warm up your March with some Cajun-inspired favorites from the classics to fresh, modern twists – all in the spirit of Southern cooking.
Join us on March 11 at 7:30 PM via Zoom as Robert N. Fanelli presents “Lydia Darragh, A Heroine of the American Revolution.” Who is Lydia Darragh? She is famed for eavesdropping on British General William Howe’s staff as they planned a surprise attack, then sneaking through the lines to give warning to American soldiers. Her actions are said to have saved George Washington’s army from a devastating ambush as it lay starving and freezing on the barren hills of Whitemarsh at the end of 1777. But did the secret she brought to the Patriots really prevent their defeat? Why would a professed pacifist choose to risk her life by intervening in military affairs? Who was the mysterious intelligence officer she met between the lines? Was her story even true?
Lydia’s Tale: The Mystery of Lydia Darragh, Irish Quaker, Patriot Spy authored by Fanelli uncovers a myriad of previously unknown records, knitting together for the first time the life and experiences of this remarkable heroine of the American Revolution who lived in the heart of Philadelphia. Behind her story, we find an assertive woman who took an active hand in the affairs of her family and her community.
Speaker Bio:
Robert N. Fanelli is Secretary of the Washington Crossing American Revolution Round Table and a frequent contributor to the Journal of the American Revolution. He serves as a Trustee of the Swan Historical Foundation, which owns an excellent collection of Revolutionary War artifacts on display at the Washington Crossing State Park Museum in Titusville, New Jersey. He is particularly interested in Pennsylvania’s role in the American Revolution, and has lived most of his life in southeastern Pennsylvania, along the flanks of Edge Hill, the site of an encounter between the American and British armies on December 7, 1777.
