Explore, Discover, and Learn Aboard the Floating Classroom! Each summer, we offer public eco cruises aboard the Floating Classroom, providing a fun and interactive way to explore New Jersey's largest lake. Guests help collect water samples, observe aquatic life up close, and learn about the plants, animals, and environmental factors that make Lake Hopatcong unique. Combining science, discovery, and beautiful lake views, these cruises are designed for curious minds of all ages.
During each 90-minute cruise, guests take part in hands-on activities that bring lake science to life. Participants will test water clarity using Secchi disks, examine plankton collected directly from the lake, and learn about the plants, animals, and environmental factors that shape Lake Hopatcong’s ecosystem. Along the way, guests gain a deeper understanding of the lake and simple ways everyone can help protect it for future generations.
