Delaware River Fest, Philadelphia, PA/Camden, NJ

The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary has connected Philadelphia residents to the Delaware River waterfront for more than 15 years through the newly renamed Pennsylvania Delaware River Fest!

The festival is a “coast-to-coast” celebration of the Delaware River by connecting Philadelphia and Camden residents to the source of their drinking water. The Delaware is one of 19 "great waters" recognized by the America's Great Waters Coalition. The Delaware River Basin is a source of drinking water for 15 million people in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Delaware.

Partnership for the Delaware Estuary (PDE), along with the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD), the Alliance for Watershed Education (AWE), the Independence Seaport Museum and others will host activities at Penn’s Landing and Wiggins Park. Since 2000, Partnership for the Delaware Estuary (PDE) has hosted this event under the name “Pennsylvania Coast Day.” Last year, PDE added new partners and expanded the fun to the New Jersey side of the river to include the Camden River Festival. This year, all partners have officially agreed to one, encompassing event, called the Delaware River Festival.

An exciting addition to the 2019 event is the Camden Jam music festival, which will feature local and regional artists and Montell Jordan as this year’s headliner. Cooper’s Ferry Partnership and Camden County are new partners in making this event even more enjoyable. Attendees will be able to go from one side of the river to the other by taking the RiverLink Ferry.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the Camden Jam running from noon to 6 p.m. Fun on the Philadelphia side of the festival includes all kinds of water-related experiences. There will be kayaking and boat rides, as well as freshwater mussel demonstrations — how mussels clean and filter water. PWD will also have a water bar for people to stay hydrated. There will be free face painting, an exciting scavenger hunt with prizes, crafts for kids, and free admission to the Independence Seaport Museum building and exhibits. Visit the Camden side for live music, games and crafts, hands-on displays, and the opportunity to rent a bike to ride over the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.
