Shell-bagging Volunteer Day, Port Norris, NJ

1510067188041.jpg

The American Littoral Society is bagging shell once again for the 5th intertidal reef that will be built this coming Spring off the Delaware Bay as part of a horseshoe crab beach restoration project. These reefs will provide calmer waters for horseshoe crab spawning and will provide habitat for juvenile fish and invertebrate species.

Work will involve cutting and tying bags, filling mesh bags with shells, and stacking the bags. The work will be dirty and a bit smelly and will occur on the docks of the Maurice River so be sure to dress appropriately. The shell bags we produce will weigh approximately 20 pounds each. For additional details and to sign up, please contact Quinn Whitesall at Quinn@littoralsociety.org. RSVP is appreciated.
