Our Staff

 

Sandra Meola, Director

Sandra Meola joined the Coalition in 2018, serving as Director. Prior to her position with the Coalition, Sandra was NY/NJ Baykeeper’s Policy and Communications Director where she founded and managed the organization’s Plastic Pollution Prevention Campaign. Sandra earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and History from Monmouth Univeraity and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Monmouth University. Sandra received an Environmental Champion Award from the US Environmental Protection Agency in 2016 and was part of Lead NJ’s 2017 graduating class.

Rita Yelda, Outreach & Communications Manager

Rita Yelda joined the Coalition in 2017 as Outreach & Communications Manager. Rita has previously held positions at Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central, and Southern NJ/Planned Parenthood Action Fund of NJ, Environmental Advocates of NY/EPL, Family Support Line, and Food & Water Watch in New York and New Jersey. Her professional background includes developing and implementing plans for nonprofit communications and issue advocacy. Rita holds a B.A. in Sociology, Minor in Environment & Society, and a B.S. in Fashion & Textile Technology from SUNY Buffalo State.

Katharina Miguel, Project Coordinator

Katharina Miguel joined the Coalition in 2017 as Project Coordinator. She began her career in environmental protection as a policy and outreach intern at the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters. She has previously conducted field research in the Philippines and has partnered with the co-producer of Antarctic Edge: 70° South to create a documentary presenting the current impacts of climate change. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Rutgers University, and spent time recruiting volunteers for international community development projects while in school.
