Sandra Meola, Director

Sandra Meola joined the Coalition in 2018, serving as Director. Prior to her position with the Coalition, Sandra was NY/NJ Baykeeper’s Policy and Communications Director where she founded and managed the organization’s Plastic Pollution Prevention Campaign. Sandra earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and History from Monmouth Univeraity and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Monmouth University. Sandra received an Environmental Champion Award from the US Environmental Protection Agency in 2016 and was part of Lead NJ’s 2017 graduating class. Email: sandra.meola@njaudubon.org

 

Rita Yelda, Outreach & Communications Manager

Rita Yelda joined the Coalition in 2017 as Outreach & Communications Manager. Rita has been working in the environmental movement since 2010 when she founded her own community group that moved forward local and state legislation. Since 2011, Rita has held advocacy and communications positions with Planned Parenthood Action Fund of NJ, Environmental Advocates of NY/EPL, and Food & Water Watch. Rita holds a B.A. in Sociology, a Minor in Environment & Society, and a B.S. in Fashion & Textile Technology from SUNY Buffalo State; and is a member of the Public Relations Society of America. Kelly Knutson, State Policy Manager

Kelly Knutson joined the Coalition in 2019 as State Policy Manager. He came to the organization from the National Audubon Society as New York Field Organizer where he further empowered their grassroots network to advocate for birds and their critical habitats. He also served as Regional Field Director for NextGen America, a non-partisan environmental non-profit focused on implementing solutions, such as wind and solar, to aid in mitigating carbon emissions in communities across New Hampshire. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia College in Minnesota, where he explored how to simultaneously conserve ecosystems and their biodiversity while promoting responsible development of renewable energy.
