Second Weekend Walk, Bordentown Bluffs, NJ

AbbotMarshlandsLogo.png

The Bordentown Bluffs, overlooking Crosswicks Creek, are part of the Abbott Marshlands. This part of D&R Canal State Park was preserved in 1996 by D&R Greenway. Culturally significant, part of the Abbott Farm National Historic Landmark, the area was first visited by Native Americans 13,000 years ago, and later was owned by Joseph Bonaparte, Napoleon’s brother.

On the walk, you will see thickets of Mountain Laurel and Rhododendron, look for persimmon and American Chestnut, and enjoy the autumn landscape. No wet walking as the trail is all upland; note that part is hilly. Meet at end of Stanton Ave., Bordentown Twp. (Take US-206 south of I-195; take 1st right after Pointe Breeze apartments. Look for Abbott Marshlands logo; street sign is missing). Please register for this free event by emailing rsvp@drgreenway.org or visiting Abbott Marshlands.
