Last year it was estimated that there were upwards of 1 million purple martins staging for the fall migration on the Maurice River. What an amazing natural phenomenon to witness! Come join us to see if this year's numbers are just as spectacular. We will start the evening off by slowly cruising up the Wild & Scenic Maurice River at sunset enjoying an assortment of desserts, fruits, soft drinks, and great company. You can take advantage of this opportunity to experience the colorful landscape and plentiful wildlife of our river. CU Maurice River's team of naturalists will be on board to interpret the wildlife and other points of interest. When we get to the staging site, CU Maurice River Wildlife Management Director and local purple martin expert Allen Jackson will provide us with more insight into the natural history of this species and give us an update on 2016's management efforts.
A selection of desserts, fruits, and soft drinks will be provided.
